Ramona is infamous for her witticisms and observations. What no one really hears about it how she handles the unknown..and activities WAY outside her comfort zone.

Which is to say..she handles it poorly. :)

Ramona dislikes getting things wrong..she relishes perfection and if she thinks she can't do it she won't. This isn't surprising it is how she began walking, talking, and doing. She has always waited until she thinks she can do it with grace.

Which is why after christmas I enrolled her in gymnastics. Something I knew would challenge her and push her to accept not perfect. Here are some pictures of Ramona doing and trying and not being perfect in her gymnastics finale. I couldn't be more proud.

Ramona's birthday.

Dear Ramona,
Is it really your birthday again? Are you really four? This past week I've been in complete awe of you.

Last year at this time I wrote that every night you dazzled me with your love.
"Mama, you are my heart. Mama, you are my whole world..." it was bittersweet because I knew at three I might very well be your whole world but that would change.

Now our bedtime ritual is a little bit the same...and a lot different. We read many of the same stories, but you read to me as well.
We sing many of the same songs but you also make one up for me each night.
When I say, "Ramona you're my heart, I love you" you say ... "Goodnight Mama, I love you too".

Which is nice, I'll take it. The year of four has opened up so many beautiful doors for you, pre-school, classmates, new neighbors, and heartbreak when we moved. You have experienced more pain, more joy, and more life than any of us expected this year.

You've blasted into it with so much spirit and love. I have found that I am no longer your whole world.
As you explore your universe with sass, I find I am bringing it all in as close as I can. For at least today, Ramona you are my heart and you are my whole world.
